From April to September each year I run organised 1 to 1 or small group Macro Photography workshops.

Available most weekends but I can also accomadate weekday sessions on request.

Based in and around Southend-on-sea a normal workshop day breaksdown like this:
  • 5:30/6:00am start at Canvey Wick Nature Reserve (about 25/30 mins from the M25 - Dartford Crossing) to find some sleepy creatures, hopefully a few dew soaked ones.
  • Break at around 8:30-9 depending on how we are getting on. Then either carry on at Canvey Wick or move on to Two Tree Island Nature Reserve (a few mins drive away.) for another couple of hours.
  • Then we can break for a working lunch and go through shots you’ve taken, editing flows and tips, tools I use etc. aim being by the end of that you have your first image to post.
  • Finally 1:30pm head back out either back to one of the earlier spots or to some local woods. Wrapping up around 3pm.
What do you need?…
  • Your camera kit obviously. Camera/lens/flash/defuser if you have it… What you are currently using is fine and we can work with that. I’ll also have a spare one of my macro setups with me that you can use to compare.
  • Spare batteries!!! and depending on how many you have a charger too just in case.
  • Long trousers and boots. This is my personal preference when shooting as you’ll quite often end up half in bushes so it saves your legs!
  • The other usuals.. water, sun screen, hat, snacks ie. whatever you’d normally pack for a day spent outside lol.
